Galloping around the diamond
too bad it is the wrong way.
Little boy, baggy pants
apart of every play.
In the past he would be twirling
and kicking at the dirt.
Now that he’s a year older
he stays focused in his Braves shirt.
His patience grows thin
as little sister is spinning around.
She breaks his concentration
and the ball rolls past the mound.
I see the anger brewing
as his sister picks up the ball.
I see her tears dropping
as the dirt cloud begins to fall.
